Wednesdays, February 1, 8, 15 and 22 (10:15 & 11 a.m.) Let’s Sing and Dance! – Sing and move to the music with Miss Nancy! For children ages 2-6 with a caregiver. Please arrive early to receive a ticket.

Wednesday, February 1 (1-2:30 p.m.) Cuyahoga West Genealogy Society Help Session – Please join the genealogy group for an informal walk-in help session.

Wednesdays, February 1, 8, 15 and 22 (4-5:30 p.m.) and Thursdays, February 9 and 23 (6:30-8 p.m.) Bow Wow Books – Stop by the Youth Services Department each Wednesday or Thursday and sign your child up for a 10-minute reading time with a reading therapy dog! Bring your own book or choose one of ours. Registration begins each Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and each Thursday at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, February 1 (6:30-8:30 p.m.) Horror Film Club – Join us as we explore some of the classic films from the genres of Horror, Science Fiction, and Suspense. Children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult. Please register.

Thursday, February 2 (9:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m.), Friday, February 3 (9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.), Saturday, February 4 (9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.) – Half-Price Sale and Sunday, February 5 (1:15-4 p.m.) – $2 Bag Sale Friends’ Annual Book Sale – Featuring bargains on Fiction, Non-Fiction, Children’s Books, Books on CD, and much more!

Thursday, February 2 (4-5 p.m.) Duct Tape Crafts – Grades 5-7. No registration required.

Thursday, February 2 (6-8 p.m.) Harry Potter Book Night – Celebrate the magic and wonder of the 3rd annual Harry Potter Book Night. Enjoy games, crafts, contests, and other wizarding activities! No registration necessary.

Friday, February 3 (9:30 OR 10:30 a.m.) and Saturday, February 4 (9:30, 10:30 OR 11:30 a.m.) Connecting for Kids: Music Therapy & MoreSM – This program is designed for children ages 1-6 who are struggling in an area of development. Join us for a program designed to model and teach families how to use music to improve their child’s skills. This program is led by a Board Certified Music Therapist from Music Therapy Enrichment Center, Inc. (MTEC). Each session is 30 minutes. Saturday, February 4 (1-1:45 p.m.), Monday, February 13 (6:30-7:15 p.m.) and Friday, February 24 (10:30-11:15 a.m.) Sensory Storytime – Features an adapted storytime for children with special needs and their caregivers. Siblings are welcome. Includes time for social play. Content is geared to ages 3-7. Registration begins one week before each session.

Saturdays, February 4 and 18 (2-3 p.m.) Brick Builders – Bring your ideas and imagination to the club! Ages 3-12. Lego and Duplo bricks provided. No registration required.

Saturday, February 4 (2-3 p.m.) Elementary ExperiencesSM –For children (ages 7-12 years) who are struggling in an area of development. Mondays, February 6, 13 and 27 (3:30-5:30 p.m.) Teen Lounge – Need a place to hang out after school? Come to WPPL’s Teen Lounge on Monday afternoons! We have computers, video games, board games, snacks, and more! For grades 7-12 only. No registration.

Monday, February 6 (7-8:30 p.m.) Sugar Addiction Relief – Certified Health Coach Rebecca Reynolds will help you identify symptoms of sugar craving and the ailments brought on by over-consumption and teach you how to regain a healthy lifestyle. Free treats sponsored by Heinen’s. Please register.

Tuesday, February 7 (10 a.m.-Noon) Career Transition Center: Job Applications and Cover Letters – Learn how to tackle questions on an application so that yours is read, as well as letter writing techniques for cover letters and follow-up letters.

Tuesday, February 7 (7 p.m.) Coffee and Chat – Join our interactive support group and meet other families facing similar struggles. The group discussion is facilitated by a mental health professional. Topic: Parents and Siblings Talk About the Needs of Siblings. Saturday, February 11 (10 a.m.-1 p.m.) SAT Practice Exam – Get ready for test time with an SAT practice exam. Study skills will be discussed and detailed results will be returned to students the following week at the results session. Students are asked to bring their own pencils and scientific calculator. Grades 9-12. Registration begins February 4.

Saturday, February 11 (2-4 p.m.) Carry Out Crafts – Stop in to see our featured craft. We have all the supplies you’ll need to create something fantastic! No registration required.

Saturday, February 11 (2-3 p.m.) Pinterest Club – Come each month to recreate a fun craft from Pinterest. This month: Mandala Rocks. Grades 7-9. Registration begins one week before each session.

Sunday, February 12 (2-4 p.m.) Mad 4 Manga – A great club for anime and manga lovers! All otakus and newbies welcome! Grades 7-12 only please. No registration required.

Monday, February 13 (7-8:30 p.m.) Maker Monday: Silhouette Cameo – Learn how to use the Silhouette Cameo to cut out and heat transfer designs to items of your choice. Bring an item to decorate! Please register.

Tuesday, February 14 (10 a.m.-Noon) Career Transition Center: Using Twitter for Job Search – Job seekers often have no way of directly connecting with the recruiter or the hiring manager. Twitter can help with this challenge. Bring your mobile device and learn how to set up an account and use it in your job search.

Tuesday, February 14 (1-8 p.m.) Valentine’s Day Fun – Join us in the Youth Services Department for Valentine’s Day crafts! While supplies last. All ages welcome! No registration required, just drop in!

Tuesday, February 14 (1:30–3 p.m.) Researching Your Roots: Ancestry.com – Learn how to navigate Ancestry.com – Library Edition in order to research your family history.  Bring the names and dates of relatives that you know. Class is limited to 12 computers. Please let the staff know if you and a partner will share a computer.

Tuesday, February 14 (7 p.m.) Tuesday Evening Book Discussion – In February we’ll discuss Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari.

Thursday, February 16 (6:30 p.m.) and Friday, February 17 (11 a.m.) Connecting for Kids’ Teach Me to PlaySM – Designed for children ages 3-6 who need help with communication and social skills. Join us for a play-based program designed to model and teach families strategies to improve their child’s social interactions, facilitate communication and manage behavior in a positive way. This program is led by an Early Intervention Specialist in Behavior from the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Friday, February 17 (4-4:45 p.m.) Fun Science Friday: Static Electricity – Join Mrs. K as we explore the wonders of the world. This month we’ll explore static electricity! Ages 4-7. Registration begins February 10.

Saturday, February 18 (10:30-11:30 a.m.) Pokemon Fun! – Bring your cards and accessories for a fun morning of Pokemon-themed play, prizes, and crafts! Ages 6- 11. No registration required.

Saturday, February 18 (1-2 p.m.) One By 1 LEGO Mosaics – LEGO artist Wayne Peltz will bring some of his portrait mosaics, talk about his work, and answer your questions. All ages welcome. Please register.

Sunday, February 19 (2-3:30 p.m.) Boredom Busters! – Are you bored? Drop by the Storytime Room and join in the fun! We will have different activities available each month. All ages welcome! No registration necessary. In accordance with library policy, children under age nine must be accompanied by an adult.

Sunday, February 19 (3-4 p.m.) Art Smarts – Explore some works of a well-known artist and then use what you’ve seen to create an art piece of your own! Grades 3-5. Registration begins February 12.

Monday, February 20 (2-2:45 p.m.) Kids in the Kitchen – Learn basic cooking skills with fast, simple, no-bake recipes just for kids! For students with special needs and their typical peers. Tuesday, February 21 (10 a.m.-Noon) Career Transition Center: Making Positive First Impressions – Within 5-7 seconds someone forms an opinion of you based on how you present yourself. Sunday, February 26 (2-3 p.m.) American Girl Doll Club: Addy Walker – Addy Walker is a 9 year old born into slavery and growing up during the Civil War (1864). We will discuss the Civil War, slavery, freedom, and equality. We will also play games and make a craft. Ages 6-11. Registration begins February 19.
