Mercy Opens Two New Ready Care Clinics in Lorain County Offering Convenient Care for All Ages

Mercy Health New LOGO 2014 AugThe winter months bring a host of healthcare issues. From sore throats, colds and flu to stomach aches from overindulging. Not to forget, falls due to icy sidewalks! Mercy is proud to announce that residents in Elyria and Oberlin now have access to new Mercy Health Ready Care Clinics that are open when your primary care physician cannot see you or you need immediate care. Mercy Health – Elyria Ready Care and Mercy Health – Oberlin Ready Care provide a wide variety of medical services at a reasonable cost.

Similar to Mercy’s existing Ready Care Clinics in Avon and Lorain, these locations offer after-hours and weekend service. Our newly expanded network of clinics – located in Elyria, Oberlin, Avon and Lorain – ensures that even more residents have easier access to care. The Oberlin location is particularly beneficial since it is the only after-hours clinic in the southern part of Lorain County.

Mercy Health – Elyria Ready Care is located at 1120 E. Broad Street in Elyria and Mercy Health – Oberlin Ready Care is located at 319 W. Lorain St. in Oberlin. Our clinics accept most insurance, and a visit is billed as a primary care office visit. This reduces cost for patients who would perhaps go to an urgent care center or emergency room after hours.

“Our goal has been to expand our walk-in clinics throughout Lorain County so even more residents have better access to after-hours care,” explains Mark Rau, Chief Operating Officer for Mercy Health Physicians in Lorain. “Often, families have unexpected medical needs that do not require an urgent care or emergency department visit, so these clinics fill a much-needed niche in the community. Patients get the appropriate level of care based on their condition, and they are treated by high-quality, compassionate providers who are a part of Mercy Health Physicians. ”

Mercy Health’s Ready Care Clinics treat a wide range of illnesses for adults and children over 18 months of age including:

  • Allergies
  • Childhood illnesses
  • Colds and coughs
  • Minor skin infections
  • Sore throats
  • Urinary tract infections

The clinics also provide well-care services such as health screenings; school, camp and sports physical exams; and flu shots and other vaccinations.

“Please remember that if you or a loved one is experiencing a medical emergency, such as chest pain, excessive bleeding or impaired breathing, go immediately to the nearest emergency department or call 9-1-1,” continued Rau. “It is important that patients recognize a true medical emergency and quickly determine who to call or where to go to seek treatment.  We are fortunate to be able to offer both convenient after-hours care and emergency services that help keep our community healthy and safe.”
