Westlake High School sophomore Esther Park took first place in the Rotary Club of Westlake/Bay Village’s annual Speech Competition and will move on to district competition and the chance to participate at the national contest.
The Rotary speech contest challenges students to solve an ethic problem using the principles of the Rotary’s Four Way Test: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
WHS sophomores Katie Cirincione placed second in the local contest, Thomas Hanson placed third and Jonah Petty was awarded Honorable Mention. Esther will compete in district competition against the winners of other local Rotary Club winners on April 8 at Aurora High School. The winner of that contest will move on to national competition.
