Our annual hydrant inspection and testing program will begin on Monday, May 1st 2017 and will be completed, weather permitting, by mid-June. Each year we inspect, test, and flush every hydrant in the city to ensure proper function, pressure, and maintenance.
We will be posting signs at all the entrances to the City as a reminder that hydrant testing will be occurring. We also notify city hall each morning of our work area for the day. Please note that hydrant work begins at 8:30 am and ends at 3:30 pm.
Because flushing hydrants often loosens some of the rust on the sides of the water mains, you may notice rusty or discolored water when we are working in your area. If this happens, please wait until we are finished for the day, then let your cold water run for a few minutes until it is clear again. Should any rusty water end up accidentally in your laundry, the Fire Department has a supply of rust remover packets. Call 871-1214 for more information or just stop in at the Fire Station.
Thank you for your patience, and please feel free to contact the Bay Village Fire Department non-emergency number at 871-1214 with any questions.
