Drivers who have waited for relief at the intersection of Mills Road and Route 83 that borders the cities of Avon and North Ridgeville will find an easier time with their travels now that the new Roundabout that serves the crossing is open.
A ribbon-cutting for the new construction was held last Wednesday afternoon as Mayors Bryan Jensen of Avon and David Gillock of North Ridgeville were joined by other dignitaries, construction team members and residents for the opening.
Mayors Jensen and Gillock then took an inaugural lap in a convertible to officially dedicate the circle. That was followed by a semi from Willoway Gardens, bringing a local message to the convenience and efficiency the roundabout will bring.
Officials at the opening included State Sen. Gayle Manning and State Rep. Nathan Manning.
All agreed that the Roundabout represents a powerful example of partnership between various agencies that brings a needed benefit to the public it serves. The cost of the Roundabout is reported to be $1.2 million, with the Ohio Public Works Commission paying $700,000 of the cost, and North Ridgeville and Avon splitting the remaining amount of about about $250,000 each.
