Offering Day of Fun, Reflection and Self-Discovery for Women and Girls
For the second year in a row, Mercy Health is presenting a thought-provoking and engaging conference designed just for women and girls, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Lorain County Community College. This year’s event, Purposeful Destiny: Overcoming Obstacles, features keynote speaker Joan Hoey, respected educator, author, TV personality and leadership trainer.
The Annual Discovering You conference was transitioned over to Mercy Health from the local non-profit, Margeau’s Free to Be Project. The event was developed in honor of Gail Stumphauzer’s daughter and her dream to help women and girls to be “free to be” exactly who they are and to realize that who they are is good enough.
Hoey, a licensed clinical social worker, has earned praise for her upbeat and inspiring approach to personal challenges. A graduate from Adelphi University with more than 20 years of experience as a private practitioner, trainer and human service consultant, she holds a master’s degree in speech communication from SUNY at Buffalo, and served on the faculty at Herbert H. Lehman College of the City University of New York and the University of Amsterdam, Holland.
In keeping with Mercy Health’s commitment to mind, body and spirit, this conference provides women and girls an opportunity to explore how life’s challenges can serve as a path in finding their true destiny. The conference will be moderated by WKYC news anchor, Tiffany Tarpley.
“Our annual Discovering You conference is yet another example of how our ministry cares for the mind, body and spirit of those who live and work in our community,” explained Catherine Woskobnick, VP of Mission Integration at Mercy Health. “At Mercy Health, we believe in giving women and girls the tools to live productive, healthy lives. So often, we see obstacles as an impediment to happiness and productivity, but Joan will teach participants how to use them to find their true destiny.”
This special event offers participants time to explore and reflect on life’s journey.
