Grandmas, grandpas, a good book and some homemade cookies – what more could a child want?
Local seniors and children were invited to join Avon Library’s ‘Reading Buddies’ program at Rose Senior Living – Avon last Friday for a cozy afternoon program and to create a heartwarming reading experience for young and old.
“Through this event, seniors and young children are able to engage in reading, playing games, making crafts, and enjoying homemade cookies,” said Library Associate Kelsey DeCoste. “It has been wonderful to encourage not only literacy but relationships between both the young and the old within our community.”
For Rose Senior Living, the visit from the students of the nearby Primrose School chapter of the Reading Buddies is one of the ways intergenerational connections are encouraged. Last summer, theater from TruNorth Cultural Arts brought musical enjoyment to the residents of Rose Senior Living as rehearsals and a performance of ‘Into the Woods’ kept things lively.
‘Cocktails & Conversation’ is up next at Rose Senior Living-Avon on Feb. 27. Hear first hand from their residents what makes Rose Senior Living – Avon so unique. Plus, enjoy a signature martini and delicious appetizers! Call Carol at 440-937-0757 today.
