Once again, Avon Heritage Elementary School was honored for its fundraising efforts for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Over the past 14 consecutive campaigns, the school has raised nearly $79,000 for the cause.

This year, the school was honored by the Society as No. 1 fundraising school in the Northern Ohio region (Toledo to Youngstown encompassing more than 500 schools) for the Pennies for Patients campaign. The school raised $16,289.82 during this year’s campaign. Pretty amazing as the school houses only grades 3-5. That’s a lot of pennies for three grades of students/staff.

The amount is up from last year’s $13,081.01 total.
