On Monday, June 4 Westlake Police Department employees volunteered their own time to help those in need. Originated and organized by Ptl. Bullins, in cooperation with the City of Westlake Division of Community Services, several members of the PD identified residential properties in the city that need landscaping help.
Due to factors beyond their control, the residents were not able to keep up with all their yard work so the police department has stepped in to help. Working with personal equipment as well as Westlake Service Department tools, the good Samaritans labored to cut grass, trim trees, shape bushes, and pile brush.
The police department employees included patrol officers, dispatchers, and jailers. They plan on continuing the work on various properties in need throughout the summer. This is another good example of the Westlake Police Department working with and for the community they serve – even off duty.
