Avon Lake Bicentennial Events

Summer Market: Friday, July 27, 3-9 p.m. & Saturday, July 28, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. – Veterans Memorial Park. The Summer Market is a unique outdoor festival and benefit held in Avon Lake. Thousands of guests visit the Market each year to shop for furniture, jewelry, art, vintage items, fresh produce, home decor, and a variety of other goods from more than 80 vendors. Guests can grab a bite from several featured restaurants & food trucks, listen to live music, watch the sun set on the lake, or shop in the summer sun. It is a great event that should not be missed!

Founded in 2006 by Erin Stack and Kristen Weeden, two friends with a shared creative passion for vintage finds, lakeside living, and helping others, the Summer Market benefits Girls Give Back, their nonprofit organization based in Avon Lake. All proceeds from the Summer Market fund the “Gift of Home,” an annual Girls Give Back project that creates a place of serenity, comfort, and well-being for local families in need.

Children’s Business Fair: On Saturday, July 28, at 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. the 1st Annual Avon Lake Children’s Business Fair will be open for business! It will be held at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake.

Come and visit the 27 booths and meet the 33 children who will be offering their products and services to the public. Kids ages 8-17 create a product or service, develop a brand, build a marketing strategy, and then open for customers at this one-day marketplace. The kidpreneurs are responsible for the setup, sales, and interacting with customers. Any parent seen selling to the customer or promoting the child’s product will result in disqualification from the competition. There are four categories in which the booths will be judged and cash prizes are awarded at the end of fair.

What to bring to the Avon Lake Children’s Business Fair: a positive attitude, lots of small bills, your appetite, a big shopping bag, and your family and friends.

The Avon Lake Children’s Business Fair is a non-profit organization in partnership with the Acton Children’s Business Fair – the philanthropy arm of the Acton Academy and Acton MBA program with campuses in many states and even outside of the country. For more information, please contact Caroline Benedum, Avon Lake Children’s Fair Coordinator at 440 212- 6262 or avonlakechildrensbusinessfair@gmail.com.
