Over 500 guests joined in the fun for the 15th annual Straight from the Heart Red-Tie Gala – the west side’s leading fundraiser benefiting cardiovascular services for the communities surrounding Avon, Fairview and Lutheran Hospitals – at Westlake’s LaCentre last Saturday evening.
“On behalf of the Straight from the Heart Committee, we would like to thank you and the community for the incredible support, generosity and enthusiasm which has made this gala one of the premier events in Northeast Ohio,” said Anthony Vlastaris, MD, Regional Medical Director, and Gwen Print, RN, MSN, Regional Senior Director, Cardiovascular Services, Cleveland Clinic Regional Hospitals.
“We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the Straight from the Heart Executive Committee and the Community West Foundation for all of their hard work and support.”
Funds from last year’s event were used to develop and support a variety of regional programs in the West Shore:
- Annual Youth Movement Contest (Winners – Gilles Sweet Elementary, Fairview Park, Thoreau Park Elementary, Learwood Middle School, Miles Park, Marion Steele High, and Cleveland School of the Arts).
- Food, fitness and fun events for children to promote healthier futures,
- Community educational events year-around,
- Therapeutic post-op support pillows for all open heart patients,
- Continuing education grant in remembrance of A. Chase Getz, MD,
- Lutheran Hospital employee health & wellness program,
- Lakewood Emergency Dept. equipment needs for cardiac patients,
- Full day recreation event for caregivers,
- Sponsored Avon Hospital community mini-series, ‘Eat Healthy, Get Fit.’
“Please be assured that your support of Straight from the Heart will assist our hospitals in continuing to provide the very best in the treatment of heart disease,” said Dr. Vlastaris.
