Four members of the Westlake High School Shakespeare Club performed recently in a one-act play through the Young Playwrights Collective.
Senior Esther Park, junior Molly Finucane, and freshmen Maggie Taylor and Julia Biller, were among nine WHS students invited to audition for four roles in the play “Like, A Gajillion Consequences,” written by Great Lakes Theater acting teacher Luke Brett. The staged reading of the play was performed Jan. 29 at Creative Space at Waterloo Arts in Cleveland. The Young Playwrights Collective serves emerging Cleveland-based writers under 35.
“It was an incredible opportunity for the girls to perform outside of the school in a professional setting,” said WHS English teacher Ann Hasenohrl, who advises the high school Shakespeare Club.
The play is a comedy set in a high school study hall, where main character Brianna (played by Molly) and her three friends discover that everything they write in Brianna’s notebook actually happens.
