The Normandy Senior Living is kicking off Empowering U with a lunch and learn on Saturday, February 23 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Avalon Hall at the Breakwater Apartments.
What is Empowering U? It is The Normandy’s new campus-wide health initiative to support healthy lifestyles for their residents and the local community. This initiative will incorporate a series of classes, educational panels and community events to educate and activate fitness, nutrition and lifestyle habits to live a healthy, empowered life.
The lunch and learn event will include a panel discussion featuring experts: Sha’Ran Marshall, Kathryn Eyring, Julie Wise, Melissa Renner and Jack Nemecek.
Sha’Ran Marshall
Sha’Ran is the CEO and Artistic Director of Dance~by Sha’Ran, a company who provides dance and fitness to the Northeast, Ohio region.
Her background in dance led to her love for exercise and fitness. She enjoys and specializes in jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, hip-hop, dance fitness, Zumba, cardio dance, yoga and much more!
With over 20 years in dance and fitness education, Sha’ran is an incredible addition to the panel!
Kathryn Eyring
Kathryn is the producer of Aging Gracefully TV, a public-access TV show with weekly interviews of inspiring and unstoppable aging adults and senior advocates.

Julie Wise
Julie is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator with University Hospitals Westshore Primary Care. She sees clients for a variety of concerns, including GI disorders, heart disease, diabetes, weight loss or gain, and food allergies/intolerances.
Julie believes in a non-diet approach to wellness, meaning that a restrictive diet is not healthy for most people. Instead, she helps her clients understand the specific needs of their bodies and learn to listen to their internal intuition regarding nutrition and movement.
Jack Nemecek
Jack is a Fitness and Nutrition Coach with an emphasis on Doing Simple Better. He focuses on strengthening basic human movement patterns to help his clients feel and move better.
Jack studied Exercise Science at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and holds certifications with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and Precision Nutrition.
His topic at the panel is improving strength and quality of movement with daily posture exercises.
Melissa Renner
Melissa is an Exercise Practitioner with over a decade of experience studying health and exercise in both the U.S. and Europe, and the founder of Active for Life Fitness.
She has landed coverage in both print and broadcast, including Fox 8 and written articles featured in Live Strong. On top of that, Melissa designed several HopSports® fitness programs that are acknowledged by Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign and the NFL Play 60.
Melissa’s passion for helping others achieve the best versions of themselves and improve your quality of life is a perfect fit for the panel discussion.
