Bay Village Announces 2019 Road Repair Schedule

Bay Village Mayor Paul Koomar reports that road construction season begins April 1st. It will be a busy year for road projects in Bay Village.

“We are fortunate that external funding has been secured for the majority of the work. These projects will impact the city and its residents. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the construction,” says Mayor Koomar in an email to the community.

Here is a list of the major road projects:

Lake Rd / US 6 bridge replacement over Cahoon Creek

100% of the project is funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). The work replaces a 1917 bridge foundation.

  • Project begins April 1st, and will reopen in September 2019 with project completion by October.
  • Lake Road will be closed between Cahoon and Dover Center Roads, with a local detour utilizing Cahoon, Wolf and Dover Center. Truck traffic will be detoured to the nearest state routes.
  • Additional signage will be added in the detour area to enhance traffic flow, limit disruption to nearby residences and provide additional protection for pedestrians. Click here for the detour map.

Queenswood bridge replacement between Devonshire Court and Edinborough (95% of the project is funded by ODOT)

  • Project begins March 25th, with full roadway closure for 90 days, reopening by the end of June. The project will be completed in July.

Columbia Road Culvert Replacement (between Wolf and Lake Roads)

  • Project will begin in late April. During construction, Columbia Road will be closed for approximately 20 days between Lake and Wolf Road. Detours will be posted during this time.

Annual road paving program – The majority of the work will occur in Ward 3, South of Lincoln Road from Lindford through Dwight, along with Parkside Drive.

These projects may cause traffic congestion due to the detours. All detours will be thoroughly marked and signed accordingly. Each project will maintain local access for those residents. In addition, normal services such as RTA, mail and refuse collection will be maintained. We ask that residents refer to the city website: www.cityofbayvillage.com for project updates. Click on the Engineering & Construction Updates link on the home page to access project/road paving information.

The City will be closely monitoring pedestrian and traffic patterns along detour routes and making appropriate adjustments to signaling as needed. During this time we ask residents to plan ahead, try to avoid areas of high congestion (around local detours) and be patient as these projects progress. If you have any questions regarding construction, please contact the Bay Village Service Department at 440-871-1221. If you have any questions regarding traffic concerns, please contact the Bay Village Police Department at 440-871-1234.
