Westlake has not lost sight of its ‘roots!’ Arbor Day had special significance at the Westlake Recreation Center on April 26 as Mayor Dennis Clough, Westlake Urban Forestry Manager Stan Barnard and members of the Westlake Garden Club gathered for a tree planting.
Mayor Clough presented Garden Club co-presidents Sally Knurek and Shirley Lutts with a proclamation and Barnard shared a description of the Katsura tree planted near the playground pavilion, explaining that its reddish-purple leaves will come alive with an orange glow and sugary redolence as autumn approaches.
