SocksPLUS – A Community of Love

Their plight is painfully visible. For our homeless neighbors struggling in the cold who are tired and wet, the simple act of having a warm pair of socks means a great deal. That’s why Community West Foundation started the SocksPLUS initiative and good ideas have a way of succeeding.

It has been profoundly moving to see the hundreds of Tribes who have joined the SocksPLUS movement to help spread warmth and love to our neighbors in need. Their actions truly reflect a heart for the poor and marginalized.

Our wonderful giving community’s outpouring of support has been something to behold, raising over a million dollars in monetary donations and in kind items for the city’s homeless over the last few years.

The Foundation is very grateful for this support, which is an investment in the lives of people who need our help each and every day – those who are hurting, in distress, experiencing poverty and suffering. “We are thankful for the Community West Foundation, who is a leader in caring for the homeless,” said Chris Knestrick, Executive Director, NEOCH. “Through their SocksPLUS program, they have sustained homeless outreach efforts in Cleveland by providing winter gear and housing for so many. Every winter, I am so thankful for them because they are literally saving lives in our community.”

Hundreds of acts of generosity by sock ambassadors, young and old, are helping to warm the homeless population one pair of socks at a time. What a community of love we have that surrounds us. The program reminds us that people truly do care about helping the less fortunate.
