Bay Cyclist Reported as Lake Rd. Hit-Skip Victim

On 5/15/19 at 1602 hours, Avon Lake Police received several calls about a vehicle striking a bicyclist, reported to be a 51 year old female from Bay Village, on Lake Rd. at the corner of Moore Rd. Upon officer arrival, subjects on scene stated a dark colored vehicle with tinted windows (possibly a Ford Focus hatchback) fled the area southbound on Moore Rd. The vehicle’s driver side struck the bike.

Witness accounts indicate the vehicle was traveling westbound on Lake Rd. and cut the turn going left of center to travel southbound on Moore Rd. When the vehicle made the turn it struck the bicyclist which was traveling eastbound on the south side of Lake Rd. The bicyclist was seriously injured and life flighted from the Avon Lake Fire Department lot to Metro Hospital and is listed in critical condition. The vehicle has not been located at this time.

Her personal information has not been released as courtesy to her family members. Police are following up on leads.
