Bicycle Rider Killed in Avon Lake Hit-Skip

A 66-year old male bicycle rider has been killed in Avon Lake.

Avon Lake Police Department was informed this morning that the 66 year old male cyclist has died, succumbing to the injuries he sustained from the accident on June 6.

Sharan A. Carr, a 64 year old resident from Sheffield Lake, has been formally charged with Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, Hit Skip, Reasonable Control, and Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence (OVI).

The Avon Lake Police Department will not be releasing the victim’s name as a courtesy to family members who have yet to be notified. “We would however like to express our sincere heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family members for their tragic loss,” report Police.

The Avon Lake Police Department responded to an accident involving a car and a bike on Lake Road near the Sheffield Lake border. Initial information revealed a cyclist was struck by a vehicle on Lake Road just west of Miller Road and the involved vehicle continued westbound in to Sheffield Lake.

Responding officers located a male cyclist with injuries on the sidewalk on the north side of Lake Road at 2145 hours on June 6.  The Avon Lake Rescue Squad responded and the 66 year old male cyclist was transported to Metro Hospital via Life Flight. Sheffield Lake Police located the suspect vehicle and stopped it on behalf of the Avon Lake Police in their city.  The 64 year old female driver was arrested and charged.
