Ebert Field Dedicated in Bay Village

Longtime Bay Village Law Director and civic supporter Gary Ebert was honored Monday evening as Dover Center Baseball Diamond Number One was named Ebert Field.

The gesture recognized the long tenure of service Ebert, his wife Pam and their family has made to Bay Village community.

Mayor Paul Koomar, Council President Dwight Clark and Vice President Dave Tadych all extolled Ebert’s commitment to the community, having served in many roles from 1982-2018, including Law Director, City Councilman, Cahoon Park Trustee and Acting Mayor at various times.

Ebert was clearly moved by the tribute. On hand for the dedication were family members, including his wife, children and grandchildren. Present in spirit was Ebert’s father, Harry Ebert, whose legacy was acknowledged at the field dedication. “My dad has a field named after him in Sandusky and he started the baseball program there,” he said. Gary is a long-time baseball devotee, drafted by the Cincinnati Reds prior legal career. His son played for a St. Ignatius state championship team, and the entire Ebert family was resplendent in Ebert Field t-shirts made for the special occasion.
