UH St. John’s Sr. Kendra Celebrates Golden Jubilee

Congratulations to Sr. Kendra Bottoms of University Hospitals St. John Medical Center on her Golden Jubilee Celebration as a Sister of Notre Dame.

Sr. Kendra was among 35 Jubilarians hosted at the Notre Dame campus in Chardon Sunday, June 23, in celebration of their milestone anniversary.

She is among the group which has touched so many lives in meaningful ways through the years, perhaps as an elementary school, high school or college teacher, or – in Sr. Kendra’s mission – through her ministry at UH St. John.

Sister Mary Kendra Bottoms has served as Chaplain/Pastoral Care Director at UH St. John, both in its time as St. John Westshore Hospital and as UH St. John. Her service also includes the position of Vice-President of Mission, Ministry and Pastoral Care St. John Medical Center. She has also served as a teacher at Notre Dame Academy, Chardon; Notre Dame Academy, Middleburg, VA; Regina High School, South Euclid; and Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School, Chardon. She served her Clinical Pastoral Education Residency at St. Vincent Charity Hospital, Cleveland.

The Auxiliary at UH St. John presented Sr. Kendra with a peace lily and gift card to honor her achievement last Wednesday, and UH St. John President Robert David shared his personal thoughts on her gifts of outreach.

“I will never forget the first interaction with Sister Kendra,” says David. “The UH Media Department sent an internal memo about me leaving my role at the UH Regional Hospitals, and joining UH St. John Medical Center as president. She wrote me the nicest email. She said she was praying for the position in general and now she would pray for me by name. That email meant the world to me.”
