The Avon Lake Children’s Business Fair (ALCBF) is part of a worldwide movement, which was originally founded by the Acton Academy, with the goal of encouraging kids to explore entrepreneurship through learning by doing. We provide an opportunity for kids age 7-16 to participate in a one-day marketplace where they can offer their self-made products or services to the general public.
On Saturday, July 27, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. the 2nd Annual Avon Lake Children’s Business Fair will be open to the general public. It will be held at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake. This is a FREE event to attend.
This exciting event will host 36 kid-created business booths along with 52 young entrepreneurs who will be offering their products and services to the greater community. Each kidpreneur is responsible for creating a product or service, developing their brand and marketing strategy, booth setup and then interacting with customers while selling their wares at our one-day marketplace.
Caroline Benedum, the founder of the Avon Lake Children’s Business Fair, has said “Our organization exists to encourage, inspire, and provide a safe space for children to showcase their own creations for sale. Our mission is to promote the hard work and efforts of these children so that they may realize their business dreams by experiencing first-hand what it takes to be a business owner and learn from their triumphs, challenges, and even mistakes. I believe that every child has the ability to do amazing things.”
Many local businesses are showing their passion for entrepreneurship by sponsoring this event. They include: Avon Lake ATA Martial Arts, Cavitch Familo & Durkin Law Firm of Cleveland, Fitch Communication & Design, Kowalski Ford, Lakewest DBT Center, Lorain County Community College, Meghan Barlow & Associates, North Coast Rotary Club, Sweet Kiddles, US Bank, and our very own participant, Alexandra Martter of Martter Made.
The Avon Lake Children’s Business Fair is a non-profit organization in partnership with the Acton Children’s Business Fair – the philanthropy arm of the Acton Academy and Acton MBA program with campuses in many states and even outside of the country.
Between now and the end of 2019, there will be approximately 95 children’s business fairs held across the United States and in other parts of the world such as Nairobi, Kenya; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Guildford, UK; Trinidad and Tobago; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Bucharest, Romania; and Quito, Ecuador.
