“What’s Brewing in Westlake” Exceeds Fundraising Goal

City of Westlake Social Services Benefits from Generous Westlake Business Community

Mayor Dennis M. Clough with George E. Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer of Equity Trust and host of the event at the 2019 “What’s Brewing in Westlake” business networking and fundraising event.

The second annual “What’s Brewing in Westlake” networking and fundraising event sponsored by Equity Trust, Sibling Revelry Brewing, and Rosewood Grill raised $3,092.56 to benefit Westlake’s social services programs.

What’s Brewing in Westlake took place on Thursday, July 25 from 5 – 7:30 p.m. at the Equity Trust Outdoor Patio, 1 Equity Way, Westlake. Thanks to the generosity of event sponsors, Equity Trust, Sibling Revelry, and Rosewood Grill, 100 percent of ticket sales were donated back to support Westlake residents in need. Additionally, a wine pull, side boards and silent auction provided an extra opportunity for guests to help Westlake.

Local Westlake High School senior, Tim Picard, played acoustic guitar for guests, encouraging a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The event space and delicious fare was provided by Equity Trust, Sibling Revelry Brewing donated beer and Rosewood Grill donated wine – rounding out a delightful evening.

Westlake Senior and Community Services Department provides assistance to hundreds of the nearly 1,300 Westlake residents who live in poverty.

“We’re very grateful to our event sponsors and volunteers for such a successful and meaningful event,” said Lydia Gadd, Senior & Community Services Director for the City of Westlake. “Many are surprised to hear me speak about poverty in Westlake. Funds raise from this event will greatly aid Westlake social services in providing for those in need,” Gadd explained.

In 2018 more than 260 individuals benefited from the Westlake Food Pantry. Additionally, more than 220 holiday food baskets were delivered to needy individuals and families, and 934 subsidized meals were delivered to some of Westlake’s elderly, disabled and convalescing adults through Meals on Wheels.
