Rocky River Police Station Update Explains Tree Removal

The City if Rocky River has issued this progress report on the construction of the new police facility at the City Hall campus:

“The week of August 12th construction activities begin for the new Rocky River Police facility located at 21012 Hilliard Blvd., next to City Hall. Next week, asbestos will begin being removed from the interior of the existing building. Construction fencing will be installed and equipment trailers and storage units will be delivered. Also, tree removal will begin next week.

  • The City of Rocky River had made a tree inventory and a risk assessment / site evaluation which includes each tree at our City Hall / Police construction area in 2017 and updated it in 2018. Based upon this inventory and International Society of Arboriculture (ISO) practices, we have determined that there are a number of trees that must be removed due to health, safety, welfare issues.
  • Other trees must be removed for the construction of the new Police facility and for a required underground storm water management system. Over that storm water system a new parking area with ADA access to the front doors of City Hall will be installed. That construction and new landscaping is anticipated to be completed in the spring of 2021.

Our Police administrative office is temporarily located at 20325 Center Ridge Road (on the east side of Linden Road) which is open 24 hours – daily. The 9-1-1 system and our non-emergency number; 440-331-1234 are operational.

Thank you for your patience at City Hall during our new Police facility construction.”
