29th Annual ‘Celebrate Westlake’ Draws Over 600 Runners

The 29th annual Celebrate Westlake 5 Mile Run and 5K enjoyed perfect summer weather the morning of Aug. 31 on the campus of University Hospitals St. John Medical Center.

More than 600 runners, walkers and children took part in a variety of fitness events, including a 5 Mile Run, 5K Run and Walk, and Kid’s Runs.

Presented by Q-Lab Corporation and sponsored by a number of local business, this annual Labor Day weekend tradition again generated fund for a number of community causes and charities. Recipients include Westlake Porter Library, Westlake Community Services, DARE and more. In the 29 years the race has been held, founder and race director Bud Hagy has seen this event raise more than $1.4 million for community purposes.

Runner received great looking zip-tech pullovers and a ticket to the post-race beer tent. Kids enjoyed a bounce house and face painting and a medal for event participant.
