Avon Local Schools Earn State Award

The State Board of Education and State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Paolo DeMaria, recently recognized Ohio school districts that earned an overall grade of A on the State Report Card with the Overall A Award. Only 27 districts in Ohio received the honor.

The award is given for achieving high performance, outstanding progress and momentum for students’ benchmarks on the annual State Report card. This is the second year Avon has received the award.

“What we accomplish with our students is truly a team effort that includes our staff, students, families and community,” said Mike Laub, superintendent, Avon Local Schools. “Our focus will always remain on the academic and social/emotional development of our students as we prepare them to be successful throughout life. Some of that is measured, but we are just as proud of the areas not measured. To accomplish these things, and remain one of the lowest cost per student districts in the state, is truly an accomplishment we can be proud of.”
