What’s Cooking? Warm Your Heart Soup Sale Supports Meals on Wheels We Care About You Program

Westlake Meals on Wheels is offering a way to warm your heart and satisfy your appetite, all while supporting the recently introduced We Care About You Program.

During the first week of December, Meals on Wheels volunteers and community members delivered to recipients four bags of non-perishable food items and a bag winter supplies and personal items collected and donated by area schools, Fire Departments, churches and the community at large. It was met with overwhelming appreciation from the recipients.  “We received so many notes of thanks from our recipients for the items,” said Executive Director Marie Patten-Blatter.  “Many of our recipients live alone, and the only person they will see is their Meals on Wheels driver,” said Blatter.   “Our goal is to be able to provide a similar care package throughout the year.  The mission of Meals on Wheels is not just delivering a meal, but serving our recipients in other ways as well,” said Blatter.

As a way to fund this program, Meals on Wheels is offering two soups for purchase.  “It’s definitely the time of year when soup just hits the spot, and you can warm your heart knowing your purchase is going toward something that is helping to take care of the neighbors in our community,” said Patten-Blatter.

Broccoli Cheddar and Chili will be available for $9/quart.  Orders are being taken from until Feb 7, and pickup will be on Feb 14, from 8:00-1:00.  For orders of ten or more quarts, delivery is available, free of charge.
