U.S. Congressman Anthony Gonzalez (R-Rocky River) is making it his mission to ensure Northeast Ohio voices are heard in Washington. That is the message he delivered Tuesday to a room full of employees at a question and answer session at Westlake’s Sea-Land Chemical Company.

Congressman Gonzalez has spent the last year touring numerous businesses and talking to employees across all six counties that make up Ohio’s 16th Congressional District. Tuesday’s visit was one of dozens of similar events the Congressman has held to hear directly from constituents and business owners on the issues that matter most to them.

Tuesday’s Sea-Land Chemical Company visit included a meeting with company leaders on topics ranging from security issues involved with producing and transporting chemicals to the importance of trade and the recent passage of the United States – Canada – Mexico Agreement (USMCA) that will provide increased certainty for manufacturers and businesses across Northeast Ohio. The question and answer session with employees also covered a wide span of topics, from finding bipartisanship in a divided Congress to working to build jobs for the new technology era, lower the cost of healthcare and fight against the growing problem of online child exploitation.

“Our Company greatly appreciated the opportunity to engage in legislative discussion with Congressman Anthony Gonzalez and Erin Getz, Coordinator of Government Affairs from NACD (National Association of Chemical Distributors), “said Jennifer Altstadt, President of Sea-Land Chemical Company.

“We discussed matters that impact our chemical distribution business such as transportation infrastructure, health care, and specific industry legislation including reauthorization of the CFATS program (chemical facility anti-terrorism standards) and reauthorization efforts of trade policies pertaining to the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) and Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB). We are pleased that Congressman Gonzalez is actively addressing these important issues.”

“My goal is to be responsive to the constituents of the community. I am taking their message back to Washington,” said Rep. Gonzalez.

The 16th Congressional District include includes Wayne County and parts of Cuyahoga (Rocky River, Westlake, North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls, Fairview Park) , Medina, Summit, Portage and Stark Counties.
