The Year of the Rat begins Saturday, Jan. 25. It is year 4717 on the Lunar Calendar, which represents the old Chinese calendar where every year is represented by a zodiac sign. The Year of the Rat represents the first year in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese Zodiac.

Folks born in the Year of the Rat are clever, sociable, and family-minded. Rats generally have many friends, and to the people they love, Rats can be very charitable and supportive. Despite a cool nature, Rats tend to be full of nervous energy and prone to stress.
