Police work has always come with inherent safety risks, which officers accept and live with. With COVID-19, a new risk has been added to that list that few could have anticipated.
Officers are continuing to fulfill their duty to protect and serve the community. They are, however, taking extra precautions to ensure the health and well-being of everyone they come in contact with, as well as themselves – after all, they cannot help anyone if they are sick.
So to help keep our officers healthy and on the streets, the Westlake Police Department is asking that anyone needing assistance call or go online to file reports or to obtain or submit any other pertinent information here: https://www.cityofwestlake.org/761/E-Form-Submissions
If you do encounter an officer in person, please remember to exercise proper social distancing and hygienic practices, as they will do the same.
Refer to the article below for a well-stated accounted of how policing has been impacted by the current situation and what you can do to help keep our public servants safe as they try to do the same for the community.
