The Power of Community: 60,000 Face Shields Distributed to Local Front-Line Heroes, Schools and Businesses

Rob David, President, UH St. John Medical Center, joins with Brent Burks, Vice President GEON Performance Solutions, John Sobolewski, Founder Power of MORE and Westlake Mayor Dennis Clough in accepting the 60,000 face shields donated by Westlake’s GEON company.

Still in the grips of COVID19 our Country is bravely fighting to safely work through the Global Pandemic.

Power of MORE Chamber of Commerce member GEON Performance Solutions of Westlake stepped up and joined the fight by donating 60,000 Face Shields at University Hospitals St. John Medical Center last Thursday, Sept. 10.

The project evolved when GEON asked the Power of MORE to leverage its membership connections with thousands of Northeast Ohio businesses, hospitals and local governments to distribute the Face Shields to where they are needed most.

GEON and the Power of MORE held the celebration of GEON face shields being distributed to the Westlake community featuring Westlake Mayor Dennis Clough, UH St. John Medical Center President Robert David and other community leaders. The celebration took place at he Main Entrance of UH St. John Medical Center in Westlake.

The Power of MORE is a consortium of 9 Chambers of Commerce serving 20 communities working together to grow businesses and create jobs in Northeast Ohio. The Power of MORE is promoting a movement for MORE Smart Social Distancing, MORE Business Connections & MORE Safe Business Openings. All businesses are welcome to join the movement by joining a Power of MORE Chamber of Commerce.

“We are family” celebrating the Power of MORE!

“To further the movement the Power of MORE is distributing $150,000.00 of GEON face shields to front line heroes to save lives, to businesses small and large to save jobs and to educators to keep our future safe and on track” says Mark Boepple, President of the Power of MORE.

“We look at this as a privilege,” said GEON Vice President  Brent Burks. Business interests are important, he said, but partnering with community projects is equally vital to the role of a company’s commitment to community. GEON recently moved to Westlake from Avon Lake.

“We can’t thank you enough,” said UH St. John President Robert David. “This community has been so supportive throughout this pandemic. It is truly humbling.”

“This community is like a family,” said Mayor Dennis Clough. “We are here for one another. When there is need, this community steps up.”

John Sobolewski addresses those in attendance.
