RRMS Students Recognized for Scoring Well on Spanish Exam

The results of the 2020 National Spanish Examinations (NSE) have been announced and several Rocky River Middle School students who took the exam last spring have been awarded medals. The students combined to earn one gold, five silver and seven bronze medals, along with 17 honorable mention awards.

The NSE, which are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, are voluntary and work with schools participating from all over the country and even internationally. Students from RRMS have a long history of high-achievement on these exams and were taught by Spanish teacher Kelly Sunderville.

“Attaining a medal or honorable mention award for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious because the exams are the largest of the kind in the United States with more than 140,000 students registered in 2020,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams.
