Westlake’s Ascent Church at 3550 Crocker Road was the hub church for a massive food distribution last week.
Over 50 volunteers distributed over 44,000 pounds of food the morning of Wed., Oct. 28 in less than two hours.
“The outreach was a great success, said Dr. Paul Endrei. “Our forklift didn’t arrive in time, so we had over 50 volunteers here at Ascent Church offload by hand over 44,000 lbs of fresh food for the needy from all over the Greater Cleveland Area! Over 20 area churches partnered with us to serve our city. It was a real victory of man over machine!”
The food drive was part of the Farmers to Families federally funded program initiated by President Donald Trump to bring fresh food to those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. It is a blessing and outreach made available to churches and faith-based organizations to share God’s love across America.
996 boxes each with 30-40 pounds of produce, dairy items and protein were offloaded and placed ‘trunk to trunk’ in a no-questions asked distribution.
“In these dark times, the church is supposed to shine and help bring some happiness. This food is going to help support over 1000 different households. Chick-Fil-A is even helping to play a part by feeding all the volunteers lunch,” said Dr. Paul.
