Former Symon Restaurant Group Executive Announces Vento Location Restaurant Opening

Residents on the west side of Cleveland, Ohio are in for a treat as local chef and longtime restaurateur opens his first restaurant in Bay Village, Ohio.

Matthew “Chatty” Harlan, formerly of Symon Restaurant Group, along with partners Jeff Schmittgen & Rob Zunich, will open a unique pizzeria in Bay Village at Cleveland Metroparks Huntington Reservation on the BAYarts campus.

Harlan has had a long history with Cleveland restaurants including most recently Lola Bistro, Lolita, Bar Symon, and B Spot Burgers. Harlan has been with Iron Chef, Michael Symon, since 1997, the year Lola Bistro opened in the Tremont neighborhood. Harlan was an apprentice for Thomas Keller at the world-famous French Laundry in 1999, and in 2007 he completed VPN pizza training in California.

Chatty’s Pizzeria will open in early 2021 at 28611 Lake Road in Bay Village, on BAYarts campus in Cleveland Metroparks Huntington Reservation across from Huntington Beach. Harlan and his wife, Melanie, are Bay Village residents with two boys in the Bay Village school system.

“It has been a goal of mine to open my own restaurant. The timing is right for my family to do this,” said Harlan. “We love this community we live in, and we want to give back by providing an experience for residents and visitors that will enhance their visit to the Cleveland Metroparks and BAYarts. Especially right now, we know the immeasurable value of spending time with loved ones, and enjoying delicious food together helps too!”

Chatty’s Pizzeria will be a small, local, family-friendly, community-driven restaurant providing made-to-order, fresh, specialty pizzas and sandwiches with artisan dough and breads, and salads with local ingredients.
