The sun shone brightly the morning of March 24 as the Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL) broke ground for the construction of a new Bay Village Branch.
The new, approximately 17,000-square-foot branch will replace CCPL’s existing Bay Village Branch, located at 502 Cahoon Road. The estimated cost of construction is $9.2 million. The new building will occupy the former Bay Way Cabin site.
Sharing enthusiastic remarks to a generous gathering of supporters, CCPL Executive Director Tracy Strobel, Bay Village Mayor Paul Koomar and CCPL Board of Trustees members expressed gratitude and excitement for this important community upgrade.
Designed by HBM Architects, plans for the new Bay Village Branch include:
- A sustainable, eco-friendly design
- Meeting rooms and study rooms
- Dedicated spaces for children and teens
- Public computer stations
- A dedicated maker space
- Second story reading area made possible, in part, by $500,000 in philanthropic support for the construction project
The existing Bay Village Branch will remain open while the new building is under construction.
