On 4/9/21 at approximately 5AM officers responded to Detroit and Allen after WPD received a report of several large explosions and power being out in the area.
Officers arrived to find an SUV had demolished a utility pole the top of which was suspended only by the electric wires. The driver was standing outside the vehicle when officers got there.
He appeared to have injuries from the crash and evidence led investigators to believe the SUV had actually rolled over after impact. The 32yo Cleveland resident appeared intoxicated. He was transported to UHSJMC with non-life threatening injuries. The man was charged with OVI, failure to control, and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was released at the hospital to continue treatment.
