Bay High Senior Ryan Duffy Named to National Technical Honor Society

Ryan Duffy, a senior at Bay High School and a student in the West Shore Career-Technical’s Auto Technology program will be inducted into the National Technical Honor Society in the Spring of 2021.

He is a National Merit Commended Scholar and is a member of the National Honor Society at Bay High School. He will be inducted into the National Technical Honor Society in the Spring of 2021.

Outside of school, Ryan has demonstrated leadership through several organizations. Boy Scouts of America awarded him the rank of Eagle Scout. He is the drumline tenor section leader in the Bay High Marching Band and a four-year member of the Bay cross country team. For the last three years, Ryan has participated in the Appalachian Service Project and traveled to West Virginia and Virginia in the summer to help rebuild homes for impoverished families. He also runs his own private auto detailing company, “Duffy’s Dynamic Detailing.”

Ryan is a leader among his peers in Automotive Technology and serves as the SkillsUSA Class President.  Ryan discovered his passion for auto-technology when he began tinkering and building go-karts and mini-bikes at the age of 13. Within a year, he began his first solo auto restoration project on a dilapidated 1971 Buick Riviera. Ryan can often be seen driving to school in this car and another car he has restored, a 1965 Corvair. According to Ryan, “career-tech was the perfect fit for me–allowing me to combine a passion for the automotive trade with kinesthetic learning.

“I feel fortunate to be able to take advantage of these opportunities in high school.” His instructor is  Michael Szittai.
