Student Artwork

Each month artwork from students around our schools is on display at the Board of Education office. February artwork comes from the talented students at Eastview Elementary School. Dana Eckert is the art teacher.

Student artwork includes: Cayden Murray (Kindergarten), Gabriella Rodriguez (first-grade), Ashley Nemmer (second-grade), Jeddy Reed (second-grade), Brielle Douglas (third-grade), Donovan Hibler (third-grade), Lily Roberts (third-grade), Liam Minnick (fourth-grade), Delaney Rudolph (fourth-grade), and Mary Wansack (fourth-grade).

A Redwood School first grade teacher requested donations in lieu of gifts this Christmas. The first graders generously donated boxes of supplies to Village Project.

“These supplies are from my first grade students and their families. For many years, I have suggested donations in lieu of teacher Christmas gifts. I’ve been a volunteer at Village Project and it’s always a pleasure to introduce your organization to my students.”

ALHS Students Tutor Vincent Elementary Students

Nearly 40+ Avon Lake High School students headed to Vincent Elementary School (Lorain Clearview School District) last week to tutor the young elementary school students. They will tutor students every Wednesday throughout the month. We love the new friendships/relationships forming. #ALexcellence

There are three groups of high school students working on this tutoring project: Advanced Placement (AP) Literature with WE Service students. National English Honor Society, and National Honor Society. This is the third year of this partnership with the elementary school. Last year tutoring was done virtually during COVID.  The high school students are also coming out to the elementary school in May to do a Service Project for the day.
