Many senior organizations, community members, and seniors attended the Chili Cook Off. “Westlake Community Service’s annual Chili Cook-off was a huge success thanks to our generous sponsors. The monies generated from the event provide us with the opportunity to offer programs to our patrons at little or no cost, which in turn allows the seniors more opportunities to socialize and engage with others, which is the best outcome we could hope for!” -Jennifer Yoo, Program Planner at Westlake Community Services. The Cookoff hosted almost 100 community seniors, 13 sponsors, and a group of community members to help decide who cooked the best chili.
Jeana Cook, Dietary Manager at O’Neill Healthcare North Olmsted, cooked up a chili that brought home the Peoples Choice award! The honor was gifted by majority vote from our community seniors in attendance. “The secret is, it’s made with love!” Mary Makulinski, the Activity Director at O’Neill Healthcare, joyfully added.
O’Neill Healthcare Staff are excited to return to community events after the Covid lockdowns. “This is a small way to be active members in our communities. We are so happy to attend these events and get to know our seniors and community members. When they need assistance, they’ll be met with a familiar, smiling face.” said Cass Blankenship, the Community Outreach and Marketing Coordinator.
“O’Neill Healthcare would like to thank all of the staff and volunteers that make these types of events possible, as well as the Westlake Community Services for holding an excellent event.” states Richard O’Neill. “O’Neill Healthcare is committed to providing the finest healthcare services at all six of their communities- Bay Village, Fairview Park, Lakewood, Middleburg Heights, North Olmsted, and North Ridgeville. Each of the O’Neill Healthcare buildings have active involvement with community organizations like the Westlake Senior Center.”
