To learn more about Treadway Ponds, The Villager recently sat down with builder George Douzos of 5D Construction. Here is what he had to say.

You have an extensive background in construction. Tell us why you selected Sheffield Lake for this project.

“Location was key because our project is tucked back on a dead end street with minimal traffic, quiet and surrounding woods. Sheffield Lake is a great community and you are within a 10-15 minute drive to shopping, schools and expressways.”

Tell us about the tradesmen you have building Treadway Ponds.

“All of the trades are skilled that we employ. I have used most of these contractors for over 20-25 years. They are good at what they do, they are established, reliable and do quality work. They know my expectations are high and they always know they need to be met on all my job sites.”

Tell us about the process and quality of construction at Treadway.

“We want to maintain a high quality home. We do that by using skilled trades as well as high quality products such as Moen Fixtures, Carrier Furnaces, Jeldwen Windows. Your home is only as good as the products you use to build them. This is how we have developed this community with these quality homes.”

Can you name some of the other communities you’ve been involved with over the years?

“I have worked in Avon, Avon Lake, North Ridgeville, Westlake, Bay Village, Vermilion, Elyria, Lorain. I also worked on Muirwood Village, Devonshire Meadows, and Avenbury Lakes. We have worked in these areas and surrounding areas.”

How many years have you been involved in construction? Can you tell us a little about how you and 5D Construction started out?

“I have been in the construction field since 1993. I started out with a local builder from Avon and became a superintendent for him and started my work relationship with a lot of the contractors I still work with today.

“After many years of being with partners, I felt it was time to go on my own with the intent to build a product that brought the homeowners vision to reality as well as maintaining the high standards I believed everyone was entitled to. Therefore, in 2014 I decided to start up 5D Construction. I pride myself on being a builder that puts together quality workmanship for all my clients in a timely manner with professionalism and high standards.”
