The Great Bay Village Train Derailment of 1982

Who remembers the great Bay Village train derailment of 1982? It happened over Labor Day weekend and very nearly wiped out the Gas Town (now Speedway) at Columbia Road and the tracks.

The tragic derailment in East Palestine, Ohio demonstrates the catastrophic consequences of such a derailment! Just imagine the tragedy that could have resulted if a gas pump in Bay had been taken out in ‘82.
