The 2023 Westlake High School Wrestling Team Great Lakes Conference Champion

The wrestling teams from Westlake and Bay High Schools proved to be the class of the Great Lakes Conference at the league championships hosted at Westlake High on Feb. 11.

Westlake, on the strength of four individual champs, posted 196 team points for the title. Bay had one champ in junior 113 pounder Anthony Rocco. But depth made the difference for the Rockets as they boasted six third place finishers for 127 points and the team runner-up spot.

For Westlake, titlists included Brad Cerankosky (106, Tanner Moore (126), Jake Schefft (144), and Robbie Huber (175). The Demons also had four runners up in Chase Morgan (113), Brogan Hartup (120), Cole Schefft (132), and Ameer Shouman (150).

For Bay, Rocco’s championship at 113 pounds was supplemented by third place showing from Michael Surovi (106), Bruce Berger (126), Kadence May (144), Jackson Kloepfer (150), Rocco Ereditario (165), and Braeden Capretto (190).
