EMS Star of Life Award

Last month several members of the Westlake Police and Fire Departments along with residents Dan Deagan and Jackie Ramey traveled to Columbus to receive the EMS Star of Life Award.

“The EMS Star of Life Awards recognize outstanding achievements and honor those in Ohio’s EMS system whose accomplishments rise above the day-to-day excellence of the system”

The exceptional skill and teamwork demonstrated by everyone on scene determined Mr. Deagan was still alive inside the home. In spite of a rapidly advancing fire, he was successfully rescued from extreme heat and thick smoke conditions. A seamless transition to providing ALS care while treating his injuries and transporting him to Metro Hospital certainly qualified for this recognition.
