Arden Courts: Understanding the Challenges of Dementia Care

Resident families and family members from the
community attended Arden Courts seminar, “The Things We Carry”

As the leader in memory care, Arden Courts Promedica Memory Care of Westlake has a commitment to the entire family.

A seminar, “The Things We Carry” held last week at Arden Courts Westlake, 28400 Center Ridge Road, helped attendees understand the challenges, guilt and other emotions while caring for someone with dementia.

“We had a nice group of resident families and family members from the community who attended. All are welcome, anyone who is caring for their loved one at home as well as Arden Courts,” said Laura Chernauskas, Arden Courts Memory Care Advisor.

“People can easily lose patience, so it is important not to be hard on yourself in the face of something so exhausting as caring for someone suffering from dementia. Reach out to others, ask for support, don’t do it all on your own and look for resources like support groups and books and educate yourself.”

The seminar also featured a panel of family members who shared their experiences in navigating the difficult journey of dementia.

Arden Courts has regularly scheduled public seminars and book talks open to one and all. Please look for their publicity.
