Veteran’s Day at The Normandy

November is the month of Gratitude! With Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving coming so close to-gether on the calendar, we are reminded that gratitude is a value to be honored. Mitzi Bugie, a resident at The Normandy Senior Living in Rocky River, expresses her gratitude at Veteran’s Day observances there recently. Gratitude – it’s a state of mind that makes a difference! “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

Veteran’s Day was observed with dignity and honor at the Normandy Senior Living recently as residents gathered to recognize their own as well as veterans everywhere!

The day was hallmarked by the elegant musical backdrop of the Zeta Sigma Alumni Chapter of Delta Omicron Music Fraternity and Father Keller for his blessing.

The group shared a stirring fife and drum prelude, patriotic medley and sign-a-long ensemble performance as the Normandy recognized the veterans of its own: Mike Ban, Jim Boulton, Michael Clay, Doug Bradfield, Stanley Doenecke, William Fitzgerald, Jay Hoffman, Dan Larsen, John Lloyd, Robert Reid, John Roth (Army), Herbert Hoppe, Richard Donaldson, Steven Beckman (Air Force0 and Daniel Matias (Navy).

All shared in the words of Abraham Lincoln (1863): “The brave men, living and dead, who struggle here, have consecrated this ground far above our power to add or detract. The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here.”
