Westlake City School District Celebrates the Achievements of the Class of 2024

Westlake City School District is proud to highlight the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2024. This year, out of 299 graduates, 116 earned honors diplomas, with two students achieving the status of National Merit Finalists and another two earning commendations as National Merit Commended Scholars.

In addition to national accolades, local support has been tremendously impactful. The community awarded over $97,000 in scholarships to 84 graduates, funded by local businesses, organizations and community members. This financial support helps graduates pursue higher education without excessive student debt. Furthermore, our grads collectively earned $1.6 million in scholarships from various colleges and universities, affirming the value of their educational achievements.

Continuing academic achievements, half of the graduating class received an academic recognition award, highlighting their broad scholastic achievements. Moreover, four students have been inducted into the Westlake Academic Hall of Fame, an honor that celebrates lifelong excellence and commitment to learning.

This year, we also celebrate the diversity of career paths our graduates are pursuing. Several of our graduates have chosen to attend trade schools, where they will acquire specialized skills in culinary arts, automotive technology and healthcare. Others are entering the workforce directly, equipped with certifications and the readiness to contribute to various industries. These paths showcase our students’ varied talents and aspirations and underscore the comprehensive education they have received.

Seven class members of 2024 have committed to serving in the Armed Forces. This group includes three Navy ROTC members, one U.S. Air Force enlistee, one Army ROTC member, one Marine and one Army enlistee. These brave students have chosen paths that reflect their dedication to serving our nation and have been awarded the Military Seal in recognition of their commitment.

As we send off the Class of 2024, we reflect on their contributions to our district and community. From academic achievements to service in the Armed Forces, these students have left an unforgettable mark on the Westlake City School District. We are confident they will continue to achieve greatness and positively impact the world.
