2024 All-SWC Honors

Avon’s Kaitlyn Reese is MVP

Avon High School junior Kaitlyn Reese was named the 2024 Southwestern Conference Girls Cross Country Most Valuable Runner following the conclusion of the SWC Girls Cross Country season.

Avon junior Kaitlyn Reese captured the SWC individual title with a time of 18:28.21. She finished runner-up the previous two seasons.

Four of Reese’s teammates finished in the top 8 to help the Eagles compile a league-best 21 team points. Sophomore Ava Melott (20:24.27) placed third for the second year in a row, while senior Carolina Reed (20:27.25) was fourth, junior Olivia Pajak (20:27.64) was fifth and senior Anika Singh (20:50.50) placed 8th.

Avon High School Head Coach Justin Carroll was selected 2024 SWC Coach of the Year.

The top eight runners at the SWC Championship earned first team honors while the next eight finishers garnered second team recognition. Each school also gets two honorable mentions.

This is Avon’s 4th-straight SWC title.

2024 All-SWC Girls Golf Honors

Avon Lake High School senior Olivia Tobin was named the 2024 Southwestern Conference Most Valuable Girls Golfer following the conclusion of the SWC Girls Golf season.

Avon Lake High School Head Coach Krystine Frisch was selected 2024 SWC Coach of the Year.

The SWC awards six student-athletes first team honors and six more second team recognition in girls golf. Each school also gets two honorable mention.

2024 All-SWC Cross Country

Avon High School sophomore Nick Thompson was named the 2024 Southwestern Conference Boys Cross Country Most Valuable Runner following the conclusion of the SWC Boys Cross Country season.

Eagle sophomore Thompson won the 5,000 meter championship with a time of 16:43.72, and four of his teammates finished in the top 10 to hold off second place Amherst Steele High School.

Senior Franco Gallo (17:11.45) placed fifth, senior Cooper Tanski (17:21.31) took 8th, sophomore Jared Keressi (17:29.73) placed 9th and junior Jose Alvelo (17:29.75) finished 10th to help Avon compile a league-best 33 points.
