Bay High School Tenor Saxophone player Keller Shea was selected for the Ohio Music Education Association’s (OMEA) All-State Jazz Ensemble. Shea, a Bay High School Junior, is one of only two tenor saxophonists in the entire state chosen from a panel of educators listening to blind auditions.
“I am honored and humbled to be accepted into the OMEA Jazz Band, and to join like-minded students around Ohio,” said Bay High School Junior Keller Shea. “Big Band Jazz is one of my favorite genres to both listen to and play, and I am endlessly grateful for this opportunity. I look forward to the convention!”
This year’s All-State Jazz Ensemble will rehearse in January, and then perform at the annual Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Convention, which takes place at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland this year, from February 6-8, 2025. The OMEA conferences are usually held in Columbus or Cleveland.
“We are proud of Keller for making this prestigious group, and look forward to him swinging out at the concert,” said Darren Allen, Bay High School Band Director.
