On Christmas Eve night, an 81 year old Avon resident was involved in a relatively minor motor vehicle crash on Hilliard Blvd. in Westlake. There were no injuries, but unfortunately, the collision disabled the man’s car due to a flat tire. Ptl. Zach Hitchens went the extra mile in assisting the man. Ptl. Hitchens not only responded to investigate the crash and keep the scene safe, he took the time to save Christmas by changing the man’s tire so he could be on his way.
Last week, the man “repaid” the gesture by presenting a custom made wren house, made by hand, to Officer Hitchens at the Westlake Police Station. The gesture was definitely not necessary but very well appreciated by the entire department. Great job, Ptl. Hitchens. Just another example of Westlake Police going above and beyond.
