The Herb Guild Garden Party at Rose Hill Garden

by Barb Armstrong

The members of The Herb Guild Garden Club cordially invite everyone to their “Garden Party” on June 1, 2025 from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. We will be sharing our gardening tips and helpful information on growing herbs as well as other plants. Many members are experienced at preserving and cooking with herbs as well. No question will go unanswered! Our club has been in existence for 47 years and a wealth of knowledge is available through our members. Herbal lemonade will be served to guests and herb recipes will be handed out. You can recognize our ladies by their hats!

Tour our newly renovated Rose Hill Garden, thanks to the city of Bay Village and the industrious members of our club. Many new plants are in the garden and it boasts many sections, including culinary, medicinal, sensory, and our “silver” area.

If you are interested in joining The Herb Guild, there will also be information on that and you can ask us any questions about the club that you like. Our year starts in March and is full of activities until December. I have been a member of The Herb Guild for 10 years now and everyone has been friendly and helpful. We have many gardeners (some ladies are just learning!), cooks, crafters, sewers, and travelers who love to share their wisdom. Everyone is expected to pitch in and help, especially with the annual Scholarship Luncheon which takes place in August.

We have a meeting once a month at Porter Library in Westlake and enjoy a wonderful lunch provided by club members (again, everyone takes a turn) followed by a program of some sort afterward. Sometimes it will be a presentation and other times it will be a hands-on workshop. It is always fun!

Being in the club has been truly a worthwhile experience for me and I recommend it to anyone who is willing to give up some of their time and friendship.

So come out on Sunday, June 1 and meet some of our members and see what we have created in Cahoon Park. The Cahoon House and Museum, which is right next door will be open that Sunday as well. Admission is free. Hope to see you!
