The Avon Schools Board of Education is excited to announce that Dr. Michael Zalar has been selected to serve as the district’s Interim Superintendent for the 25-26 school year pending board approval at our next board meeting on July 14th at Avon Middle School. He has served as Superintendent in Oregon Clay, North Olmsted and Tiffin School Districts before retiring in 2022.
Dr. Zalar will officially start in his new role on August 1st but will be in the district beforehand to ensure a smooth transition as Mr. Hodge finishes his official duties on July 31st.
Dr. Zalar shared “It is an honor to be chosen to lead the Avon Local Schools as Interim Superintendent for the upcoming school year. Getting to know the students, staff, families and community will be a priority, and working together on the district’s strengths to achieve even greater success is the goal. Together, our focus will remain on providing high-quality learning experiences for all students while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.”
